Lev Shalem Campaign

July 2024

Dear Fellow B’nai Aviv Members,

As we approach the upcoming High Holidays, we are excited to share some wonderful news with you!

As many of you are aware, there has been ongoing congregational interest in transitioning to the Lev Shalem High Holiday prayer book, which became the official machzor of the Conservative movement in 2010, and which was adopted by Beth Ahm Israel prior to their congregation joining the B’nai Aviv family. This interest peaked last year when we made copies of Lev Shalem available to evaluate during the High Holidays, resulting in strong positive feedback.

Lev Shalem has significant improvements over our current machzor, including modern readings and enhanced commentaries and explanations, full transliterations for words and prayers recited by the congregation, and more detailed instructions for when to sit, stand, bow, etc.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Dr. Robert Grenitz, Anne and Mark Grenitz, and Sherri and Jordan Wetstone, in loving memory of Sheila Grenitz z”l, we are thrilled to announce that B’nai Aviv will be transitioning to the Lev Shalem prayer book during the upcoming High Holidays.

This generous gift by the Grenitz family has allowed us to purchase a significant portion of the prayer books needed for congregational use during the upcoming High Holidays. However, to ensure that we have enough copies for all our congregants, we still need to purchase an additional three hundred books.

We would like to invite you to participate in this beautiful endeavor by funding and dedicating one or more prayer books for the congregation at $72 each. This is a special opportunity to honor or remember a loved one, or to mark a significant milestone in your own life. Each book you fund will include a customized commemorative bookplate inside the front cover, including your name(s) and the dedication of your choosing. Those participating in this campaign will also be able to purchase an additional prayer book for their own home use at the same price.

To fund and dedicate one or more prayer books, please fill out the attached form below.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our congregational community.

B'shalom,

David Smith
President, B'nai Aviv

This form is closed until after the High Holidays.  Thank you for your understanding.
