The Sisterhood of B’nai Aviv is a dynamic group of women of all ages who bond together to support our congregation in many ways. B’nai Aviv’s Sisterhood is a part of the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism which is an autonomous organization, whose goal is the perpetuation of traditional Judaism in the home, synagogue and community. There are currently over 700 Sisterhoods, with a membership of 150,000 women, organized into 25 branches. It is the largest synagogue women’s organization in the world, with affiliates in all parts of the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Israel. Relationships have been established with synagogue groups in England, Central and South America, South Africa, India and Sweden.

The Sisterhood of B’nai Aviv is an active participant in fundraising activities of the fundraising arm of our synagogue. Our many programs provide opportunities for educational and spiritual growth, as well as a forum for establishing new and lasting friendships. Some of our activities include annual programs such as A Women’s Seder, Mother’s Day Luncheon, Purim Baskets sent to the entire congregation, Progressive Dinner, Sisterhood Family Shabbat Dinner, Bunko/Bingo fun nights and many others.

Dear Women of B’nai Aviv,

As the new membership co-chairs for Sisterhood, we would like to start off by welcoming each of you to a new and exciting year that will be filled with lots of events for all female congregants of B’nai Aviv.

We are fortunate to be the only conservative synagogue in Weston. Our B’nai Aviv Sisterhood members are women from all walks of life. We are in our 20’s, 30’s 40’s, all the way up to our late 80’s. We are from near and far, all over the Americas, Canada and abroad. We are homemakers, professionals, businesswomen, retailers, government employees, etc….We have come to B’nai Aviv looking for an enriching environment for our children, our families and ourselves.

Our current Sisterhood members are committed to B’nai Aviv Sisterhood for many different reasons. Some of us come to socialize with old and new friends, while others enjoy its Judaic traditions. Sisterhood’s major responsibilities are fundraising, coordinating all the Kiddushim, running the Judaic Shop, and Education programs . Sisterhood is a wonderful environment dedicated to enriching and strengthening Conservative Judaism for our families and ourselves.

It is for this and other reasons that we are asking each of you to consider joining Sisterhood. Whatever your reason may be, we are here for all at B’nai Aviv Sisterhood. Join us as we discover what Sisterhood is all about.
