The B'nai Aviv Ritual CommitteeThe B'nai Aviv Ritual Committee has two main roles in the function of the congregation The first is to ensure that ritual functions happen! This includes: coordinating service leaders for Friday evening, Saturday morning and all other services, lining up Torah and haftarah readers, coordinating special holiday and festival observance. The second function of the Ritual Committee is to help to develop congregation policies in the religious practices area (for example, food policies, congregational Shabbat observance, liturgy changes, etc.) Policies at B'nai Aviv must be approved by the Board, but it is the job of committees to make recommendations. As a part of this function, and in conjunction with Adult Education, we help to educate people about Jewish ritual and liturgy. If the "past has a vote, not a veto," then we need to know how to hear the vote of the past as we make decisions for the present. By the way, joining the committee to learn is a good reason to join! The committee chair may be reached by email to ritual@bnaiaviv.org
